Creating a versatile yet practical wardrobe for work can at times become more challenging than anticipated and aside from what to buy and what not to buy, staying within budget is probably the biggest challenge of all. It is so easy to get carried away with another $50 or a $100 here and there and before you know it you have surpassed your budget and still missing the pieces you really needed or intended to buy.
Having a closet filled with clothes and barely any pieces you actually love to wear is a common battle for all of us and the common reason behind the “I’ve Got Nothing to Wear” syndrome! Yes, it is very much possible to have a closet filled with clothes and yet have nothing to wear and is all due to buying without a plan. It all starts with buying pieces because they are pretty or good to have and at times buying for the ever classic special occasion that may happen.
The latter tend to eat the most into our budget and often times when a special occasion finally does come around the intended bought piece looks either dated or no longer fits! Sounds familiar?
Knowing this is a common struggle among many is why I decided to create this post where I share with you some great tips on how to create a versatile work closet within a fairly low budget. With a little bit of planning and some good shopping decisions it can be achieved and you can create a great looking closet without breaking the bank.
One of my biggest tips to anyone trying to create a stylish work closet within budget is to not hold any prejudice against any brand. Keep an open mind to exploring various retailers and you’ll be surprised what amazing pieces you can find at super affordable prices.
My second biggest tip is to choose your pieces carefully so they can be easily mixed & matched with one another allowing you to get the most variety and mileage out of of each piece.
Here below I have shown over 25 outfit options with the 14 clothing items I put together, and even managed to add 2 pairs of shoes, a tote and 2 pieces of jewelry to this closet and land just under $1,200. Don’t forget to check out my Build a Work Closet Under $1,200 video, embedded here below, to get more insight about the complete work closet I have put together for under $1,200!
