You are probably wondering what Norouz means and what exactly is Norouz Style?
Norouz dates back to ancient Persia rooted in Zoroastrianism and celebrated by millions across the world. The word Norouz means New Day in Farsi and is the Persian New Year holiday marking the first day of Spring where millions ring in the new year at the exact same moment all over the world as the sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day, also known as The Spring Equinox.

The new year is ringed in with the whole family gathered around the Haft-Sin as prayers and wishes for evolving for the better in the new year are cited followed by kisses and eating sweets welcoming Norouz! Correct, no bubbly here when ringing in the new year, sweets are eaten as the first thing in the new year to invite sweetness in to our lives in the new year!

The celebrations continue for 13 days where the younger in the family visit the elders sipping tea, eating sweets and salty roasted nuts best of all get Eidi, which traditionally is the monetary Norouz gift given by the elders to the younger family members.

Now of course with a New Day in the New Year, New Clothes referred to as Lebase Eid in Farsi, is a must and it is customary to be in brand new never worn clothing from top to toe when ringing in the New Year, and what is worn to go and visit the elders. Traditionally dark colours are not worn and keeping it simple is not on the agenda.
Being of Persian descent I wanted to homage this ancient Zoroastrian festival celebrated with more grandeur every year shows how deeply rooted Norouz is in the Persian culture marking the first day of the Persian calendar, even 1,500 years of post islam.
