Red roses, a box of chocolate and a soft toy holding a heart with the words ‘ I Love You’ embroidered on it! These three items have become the traditional Valentine’s Day gifts and what is socially acceptable as well as expected on this day.
Traditionally this holiday was used as the occasion to express one’s love to a beloved, which to me is so much more romantic and beautiful than what it is in our time. In the recent decades St Valentine’s Day has turned into a highly commercialized holiday loosing its true essence where love is measured by the gifts received and not felt through the heartfelt gestures.
In the true honour of this holiday I decided to write this post and put a twist on the way we gift our loved one on this especial day. Whether you are in a committed relationship or just starting to warm up to one another, why not use this occasion to grow your bond and bring the two of you closer to one another.
St Valentine’s Day is a holiday to celebrate love in many ways, but what better way to celebrate one’s love for each other through a gift that is something for the two of you as a couple versus a personal gift which is just another gift. There are so many occasions you can gift your loved one a personal gift, but the occasion to gift you as couple is rare and Valentine’s Day happens to be one.
This Valentine’s Day use the occasion to create more memories with each other and create the opportunity of getting to know one another more and explore different sides of each other. Check out my Valentine’s Gift Ideas video, embedded here below, to learn about the gift ideas I am sharing to celebrate you as a couple. I would love to hear how you celebrated your love for one another and which gift idea worked best for you.
